What a Flexible Spending Account (FSA)?

A Flexible Spending Account is an account that allows employees to set aside money on a pre-tax basis to pay for medical expenses that aren't covered by insurance such as co-pays or deductibles. FSAs are usually funded through voluntary salary reduction agreements with employers. This plan is an option for employers and not a requirement. The FSA is governed under IRC Section 125.
